1. ***ESSAY***
Examine the below image by Peter Paul Rubens of Judith and the Head of
Holofernes. Based on on what you have
learned in this course, discuss this image in context of the artist and the
course as a whole. How is it similar to
and different from works we have studied by the artist himself and other
artists in the course. An obvious
comparison would be with Artemisia Gentileschi's painting of a similar subject.
2. ***ESSAY*** Compare and contrast any two
portraits from chapters 18-22. Make sure
they are from different Chapters and put them into their historical context and
describe how they are different and similar both in form and content. Think about the
socio-political-cultural-religious environment, the patronage system at use,
the style of painting and the artist and their respective styles. (Points : 25)
